I’ve always wanted to try Glossier products. They’re made to give you that “your skin but better” feel and for everyday makeup, that’s exactly what I’m looking for! Don’t get me wrong I love a full face of makeup but I love to wear “nothing” on the skin too!
Unfortunately, us Aussie’s still can’t get Glossier shipped here. I love all the ad campaigns that Glossier do. The models look flawless and have beautiful skin. The most important part of the look….natural makeup!
Lately, I’ve really been embracing not wearing much at all and only wearing eye makeup to bring out my natural features. So at the moment, I’m really loving natural makeup!
I’ve been watching quite a few YouTube videos on how to get that “Glossier” look and I’ve tried it myself!
Here’s how to get that “Glossier” look if you don’t have the Glossier products!
Start with bare skin
You need to have freshly washed, cleansed and moisturised skin. I exfoliated my skin using the Nip + Fac Glycolic Fix Foaming Pads. Super convenient and easy to use, I simply just use the bumpy side to take any dead skin off the surface.
Then I follow this by using moisturiser, I’m really loving the Nivea Soft Refreshingly Soft Moisturising Cream. Cheap and effective, you can’t go wrong with it.
The base using two foundations
I usually would use my MAC Face & Body, but I’ve recently had to throw that away after it expired. So I head to my makeup collection. I decided to pick The Ordinary Serum Foundation in 2.0 and mix this with the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC + Cream.
Mixed this on the back of my hand and I was able to get a lightweight base ready to apply to the skin. For natural makeup looks, I use clean hands to apply the base. Something about the warmth of your skin from your hands makes the application smoother and it looks fresh.
Natural brows for the win
I have no brows. My hairs are so thin and fair. I know in the campaigns the models have natural bushy brows. I was not blessed in that department. #asianbrows
Filling in my brows I use my good old Benefit Foolproof Brow Powder and I fill in my brows like I normally would. I literally wish I could just apply brow mascara and call it day, but nah it doesn’t work that way!
Eye makeup that is super duper easy
The eyes at this point are to be super natural but you can add a little something to accentuate them.
I used Kiko Milano Long Lasting Stick in the shade 07, it’s a light golden shimmery shade that just gives the eyelids a beautiful shine to them.
Applied straight to the lid and then blended out using a blending brush.
With the lashes, I did not apply false lashes (which NEVER happens), I applied generous coats of Maybelline The Falsies Push-Up Angel Waterpoof mascara to just lift them up.
Viola eyes are done!
Finishing the skin off
We need to continue to give the illusion of bare, fresh skin, so I apply concealer to my under eyes. My favourite for the under eyes is Tarte Shape Tape Concealer, it’s so creamy and easy to blend.
Before setting all my cream products, I apply subtle colour to my cheeks using a cream blush like Etude House Play 101 Stick. Using the warmth of my fingers, I blended it out.
Now it’s time to set the face. I love using the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light to set everything but it also gives you a glow to the skin without it looking greasy.
Finally, the last step of the look is the barely-there lips! The models look like they have tinted bitten lips, so I went with my Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick in Etienne and I simply used my ring finger to apply it lightly onto the lips.
