Products I Use To Style My Hair: For Bleached Hair

products for bleached hair

If you’ve been a long time follower you will know I’ve gone through so many hair colour changes. You can now call me the hair colour chameleon! In the last three years alone I’ve bleached my hair 7 times!

Definitely some of my hair has snapped off! But each and every time I do a bleached service I always get my colourist to use Olaplex so that it protects my hair from any damage.

Since I started colouring my hair properly (not going to count those dodgy times back in high school and uni days), I’ve always been going to DJ Hair Artistry. They now reside in Surry Hills and they definitely have a great track field for colouring hair, especially Asian hair.

Let’s talk about the products I use to style my hair.

Just a disclaimer, these products are not used for the intention of having my hair colour last longer. I use the following products because it helps with the prep for heat styling and managing my hair. But I found these products are coloured hair friendly!

O & M Know Knott Conditioning Detangler

I’ve had this bottle for so long, it’s probably time to get a new one! I was introduced to this product by my hair colourist who recommended that I use a conditioning detangler when I get out of the shower to brush my hair.

It does a great job of detangling the hair and I always use a wide-tooth comb when combing wet hair.

Containing Macadamia and Argan oils, it helps condition the hair . Other ingredients include:

  • Quandong – Found in the Aussie desert, it’s high in Vitamin C, keeping the hair healthy and nourished
  • Dessert Lime – Known to help fight free radicals and prevent premature ageing.
  • Pro-Vitamin B5 – Helps shield coloured hair from the harsh UV rays (awesome to prevent colour fading)

For all vegan consumers, O & M is animal cruelty-free so you know you’re making a conscious decision when purchasing from this fantastic brand! It’s PETA approved too!

Agadir Argan Oil

Hair oil for coloured hair? I can confirm that it is safe to use according to my hair colourist! I feel there is a lot of mix messages it when it comes to hair oils and coloured hair. Argan oil is actually really good for the hair.

Benefits of Argan Oil:

  • Promotes hair growth
  • Gives the appearance of shiny hair
  • Moisturises the hair
  • Corrects frizz
  • When applied can help with your hair from humidity

I use it when my hair is towel dried and slightly damp. Pour a few drops into my hands and rub them together. I then “press” it into my hair.

Argan oil keeps my hair moisturised, which I feel I lack due to excessive colouring. It also helps tame the frizz which I’ve always had.

Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow It

I can’t remember who recommended this to me but I’m glad I bought this when I did. It’s a product you use when you want those days without any heat styling and it helps your hair air dry with natural texture and body. It’s for the perfect air-dried style!

It’s great for when you’re travelling and you have no time for styling your hair. I even do this when I’m just at home.

How I use it:

  1. After shampoo and conditioning the hair, I’ll towel dry my hair.
  2. Take a small dollop of this amazing product and scrunch it into the hair.
  3. I just let my hair dry naturally without touching it!

Klorane Dry Shampoo With Oat Milk

My holy grail of dry shampoos! Can’t live without it, will never not have it and I will never not be without a backup!

Yeah I’m that woman that stocks up on three cans when Priceline has 40% off haircare. #It me!

I love this dry shampoo because it doesn’t leave that chalky feeling that I find most dry shampoos on the drugstore market leave behind. It smells fresh on my hair and I love how they have formulas for sensitive scalps like mine.

Paul Mitchell Hot Off the Press

This thermal protection spray is probably the best I’ve tried. It doesn’t build up on the locks and I find the smell is really nice.

It’s lightweight as well so you won’t feel it on your hair. On that note, the product itself hardly builds up on my heat tools. But of course I always make sure I clean them regularly in general.

This heat protectant also has a bit of hairspray in it so you can be reassured that your hairstyle will hold too after being straightened or curled.
